Soft Furnishing Courses -
Making Curtains, Valences, Blinds and Cushions.
This year we have introduced our new Soft Furnishing Courses run by Jeff & June Stuthridge. Jeff and June are both professional Soft Furnishers catering for the bespoke market and have been running their own business for many years. They have kindly agreed to pass on their vast knowledge to you. If you want to give your curtains, blinds and cushions that ’wow’ factor why not join one of their classes.
What the Courses will Cover
The curtain course will include everything from choosing the right fabric, cutting, pattern matching makeup, fittings and hanging. Special professional tools will also be demonstrated as well as revealing the tricks of the trade. You will leave with small samples that you will have made in the class
Are these classes for You?
The classes will cater for you whether you are intending to turn your living room into a factory or just want to make soft furnishings for family and friends.
Upholstery Classes-
As a student you would bring along a project or arrange for Joan to provide a new frame of a stool or chair. Joan specialises in traditional upholstery but you can also be taught modern techniques. For a beginner a simpler piece of furniture is best to start with, like a stool or dining chair but she advises you to discuss your project when you book your lesson.
It is not necessary to have your own tools or materials but you are welcome to bring them along if you have any, although top fabric or foam cut to size needs to be ordered in advance. A complete day will cost from just £70 plus VAT and from £18 per night for bed and breakfast if required.
Upholstery is a worthwhile hobby and you will never be short of jobs around the home on which to use your newly acquired skill - but beware, you may become addicted to craft. Please telephone if you would like dates of our next lessons.
